Fishing this week went south and I?m not talking about the migration of the fish. It was a tough going this week for most of the fishermen, although we did see a couple of nice fish. A few nice size dorado and tuna sprinkled in between a lot of below average fishing. The El Tio managed to bring in the biggest tuna this week, weighing in at 220lbs. (picture below) Yesterday afternoon the Julkate brought in a nice 70lbs. Yellowfin. Most boats reported seeing large schools of tuna in the area, but they just didn?t seem to want to bite. We also saw a few large dorado come in, with the largest coming in at about 40lbs. For the most part the dorado that we did see, which was not much, had some nice size. The billfish are still out there and we did see quite a few boats flying marlin flags. Clients I spoke with reported catching Sailfish, Stripe Marlin and Blue Marlin. Other species that were landed this week included pargo, roosterfish, jacks and cabrilla. Here are a few nice pictures taken this week from Van Wormer Resorts. Let?s hope for much better weeks to come.
