Van Wormer Resorts Fishing Report 5/11/12   Hola Amigos….This week down on the East Cape of Baja, the fishing is holding steady but did drop off a bit from previous weeks.  We just didn’t see the numbers we were seeing the last two weeks, but we did see some quality fish.  We are still seeing lots of billfish in the area, both striped marlin and sailfish were landed.  Anglers are landing one to three per boat, but some are seeing more that a dozen a day.  The dorado bite slowed down, but the ones that did come to the dock were in the 30-50lb. range.  My good friend Harold Gold of Rialto, California came down this week to Hotel Palmas De Cortez with his family.  Grandson Aaron Jones of Phoenix Arizona landed the dorado of the week (pictured below) while trolling a dead ballyhoo onboard the 28’ Cruiser J&B.  The dorado was estimated to weigh 50lbs. by captain Alberto Cota.  Daughter Barbara also landed a nice striped marlin (pictured below) that same day.   Some of the other species we saw this week included roosterfish up to 25lbs., jack crevalle, amber jacks, cabrilla, pargo, lady fish and mako sharks.  The water temperature has been in the upper 70’s his week with air temperatures slowly approaching 90.  That’s it for this week my friends.  Hope to see many of you down here soon.
