Van Wormer Resorts Fishing Report 9/21/12   Hola Amigos,   This week down on the East Cape the fishing went south.  Not figuratively but literally!  All week boats headed about 25 miles south near Los Frailes.  Tuna was on everyone’s catch list and they were not disappointed.  There were lots of tuna landed between 15-25lbs..  Unfortunately there were not cows out there and almost all of the tuna this week was in that football size range.  A few boats tried to head further south approximately 45 miles from Palmas De Cortez to see if there were any big boys, but had no luck.   The dorado bite has been steady, but not awesome the last few weeks.  Some anglers doing better than others, but they are out there.  They too are near Frailes, so most boats are able to land tuna a dorado on the same day.  The dorado have been averaging approximately 25lbs., with a few in the low 40lb.   If billfish is what you are looking for, the sails have been in pretty thick.  Many boats reported landing or seeing sailfish this week either on their way to or back from Frailes.  A few striped marlin were landed as well this week, but nothing like the number of sails that we saw.   The Roosterfish bite has also been steady this week with a few guests opting for the inshore fishing which has been close to the resorts.  Most of the roosters landed have been from Punta Colorada near the lighthouse and to the south of the Lighthouse.  Reports of 20-40lb. roosters came in from guests this week.  All were caught and released.    That is it for this week amigos!  Until next week!  Eddie Dalmau/Baja’s Van Wormer Resorts
