Fishing Report
10/3/13
Hola Amigos,
I want to apologize for the lack of a report this past month. I was up in the States the entire month and was unable to post any fishing reports. Now that I’m back down on the East Cape I will do my best to have a report posted each week.
Fishing this week was off the charts once again in the East Cape. It really was a typical East Cape week, with lots of species, quanity, but nothing giant to report. Most boats are going after the dorado and tuna right now with great success. Many boats are coming back with limits on both dorado and tuna, so the bite is wide open. Most of the dorado and tuna have been landed about 30 miles south of Palmas near Los Frailes. Nothing very big to report but we did see some nice 25-35lb. dorado and some 50-80lb. yellowfin.
The wahoo fishing this week has been as good as I can remember. Several boats were fortunate enough to catch several wahoo in one day. Yesterday we had the Champagne land three wahoo and the Balihoo landed a nice 50lb. wahoo. The wahoo have also been down south of Frailes to the northern Gordo Banks.
As for billfish, we are seeing some stripe marlin and a few blues, but the sailfish were in very think this past week. We had a few small blues in estimated in the 200-250lb. range, a few nice stripes as well in the 150 class and lots of sails.
I just returned from the dock to give you a report on today’s fishing and once again it was limits on tuna and dorado, 5 wahoo, trigger fish, amberjack and sailfish. Everyone had a great day and the weather couldn’t be better. Day time highs in the mid to upper 90’s and water temperatures in the 80’s. The seas are flat clam, and conditions are ideal for some great fishing. That’s it for this week amigos! Hope to see many of you here next week for the 2nd annual Tuna Shoot Out and Let’s Talk Hookup tournaments. Until next week…Eddie Dalmau/Baja’s Van Wormer Resorts
